Junior Police Academy Accepting Applications for Summer 2025

April 1, 2025 by Cal Stoffel

The Junior Police Academy is now accepting applications for its Summer 2025 Sessions! We are offering two sessions this summer: Session 1 runs from June 23rd to June 27th, 2025 and Session 2 runs from July 14th to July 18th, 2025.

Many students view the police officer only in the role of “enforcer.” Junior Police Academy is designed to take the mystery out of law enforcement and provide a comfortable setting which allows officers and students to interact in an environment free from enforcement. It provides an opportunity for officers and students to see each other as people, rather than as adversaries.

For more information and to register, please visit our Junior Police Academy page. The deadline to register is the end of the day on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025. If you have questions, please email School Resource Officer Jonathan Smith at jonathan.smith@sheboyganwi.gov.

Sheboygan Man Arrested for Mistreating Animals

February 7, 2025 by Cal Stoffel

On February 6th 2025, Sheboygan Police Department officers were dispatched to a welfare check in the 900 Block of N 11th Street. Officers on scene discovered blood outside of a home. Upon further investigation, officers began searching the area for the resident of the home. During the course of the investigation, officers uncovered evidence to indicate the subject of the check welfare mistreated and abused his dog which caused the dog’s death.

A short time later, Sheboygan Police officers located the suspect in the downtown area. The suspect did not comply with officer’s commands and was armed with a knife. Several officers responded to the area to take the suspect into custody. Officers utilized less lethal munitions and electronic control devices to take the suspect into custody. Officers noticed the suspect had a number of injuries unrelated to the less lethal munitions and began life saving measures along with Sheboygan Fire Department paramedics. The suspect was transported to an area hospital, before being medically transported to a Milwaukee area hospital.

We are still investigating this incident and plan to file charges with the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office in the future.

The Sheboygan Police Department thanks the community for their patience while officers were investigating this rapidly evolving incident.

If anyone has any further information regarding this investigation, we ask you call the Sheboygan Police Department at (920)-459-3333.
