Man Jumps from 8th Floor Window

July 31, 2018 by Christin Koenig

On Tuesday Morning 07/31/2018 at approximately 0800hrs, the Sheboygan County Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call of a physical fight involving several parties. The incident was occurring in the 6th floor elevator lobby of a building located in the 600 block of N. Water Street. SPD and the State Patrol responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 50 year old Sheboygan man had jumped out of a 8th floor window. EMS was activated. During the fall, the man struck a large tree before landing on the grassy ground. The man was eventually flown to THEDA Clark Trauma Center in Neenah. He is in serious but stable condition at this time.

Officers learned that the man was a suspect in a domestic violence incident with a former girlfriend that occurred while in the 6th floor lobby area. A male companion of the victim intervened to stop the suspect from strangling and battering the woman. The two males fought in the lobby. During the fight, the suspect tried to jump out of the 6th floor elevator lobby window. The companion of the victim grabbed the suspect and pulled him in from the window ledge. The suspect left down a hall. The suspect used a stairwell at the end of the hall and went up two flights to the 8th floor where he removed a screen and jumped out of the window.

The suspect was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Before arriving at the building, the suspect was involved in two hit and run accidents and fled the scene on foot. No one was injured during these traffic collisions.

The suspect is facing a variety of charges including felony strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct, damage to property, and several traffic related charges. The incident is still under investigation.
