Suspicious Water Entry
The Sheboygan Police Department is investigating a suspicious water entry into the Sheboygan River.
At approximately 10:50 am, our dispatch center received a call of an unknown person, who dove into the river and the person did not resurface.
Sheboygan Police Officers, Coast Guard, and Sheboygan County Dive Team responded to the area and began searching the land and water for any person that may have been in the water and also for possible witnesses who may have seen someone go into the water.
The Dive Team and Coast Guard conducted a grid search of the river and were unable to locate any evidence to substantiate that someone had entered the river or was in distress. Sheboygan Police Officers checked the area for additional witnesses and information but did not find anything that would corroborate the initial call. The search has been called off pending the development of additional information. If there are witnesses who have any additional information, please contact the Sheboygan Police Department at (920)459-3333.
Drug Take Back Day A Success!
Sheboygan County residents turned in 1,022 pounds of unused and expired prescription medication at the Spring Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27th, 2019. Volunteers and law enforcement coordinated five take-back locations throughout the county – one each in Sheboygan, Random Lake, Plymouth, Oostburg, and Howards Grove.
Safe disposal is a big step in preventing the risk of abuse, addiction and contaminated water from prescription medication. The increase in medication collected is a clear indication that our community is on board with prevention and awareness efforts regarding prescription drug abuse and unsafe disposal. We are grateful for the community’s overwhelming response in this prevention initiative.
Sheboygan County residents who were unable to make it to one of the Drug Take-Back Day locations can still drop off unused medications any day at one of the permanent medication drop boxes, located at five police departments throughout Sheboygan County:
Elkhart Lake Police Department, 40 Pine Street, Elkhart Lake
Kohler Police Department, 319 Highland Drive, Kohler
Plymouth Police Department, 128 Smith Street, Plymouth
Sheboygan Police Department, 1315 N. 23rd Street, Sheboygan
Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, 525 N 6th Street, Sheboygan
Distracted Driving? PUGet About It!
The Sheboygan Police Department continues to focus on reducing accidents through concentrated enforcement of traffic violations as well as educating the public on safe driving behavior. In order to continue to reach residents of Sheboygan and provide safe driving tips, Kelly the Pug joined the team and a series of educational videos were developed for everyone’s viewing. Take a moment and watch the featured video then practice what you have learned. This week Inattentive Driving is featured and we ask that when driving a vehicle that you focus on the road, not distractions. This includes, but is not limited to, putting away cell phones, reaching for items that are a distance from the driver, and continually focusing on the radio station. Distractions can be taken care of when you reach your destination safely. As a community, the number of accidents decreased over the last couple of weeks but we are slightly ahead of last year at this time. In 2018, we had 484 accidents and presently are at 492 accidents. Join Kelly the Pug and other members of the community, let’s drive safely and reduce those accident numbers.

ALICE Training
ALICE TRAINING is being offered to our local business community!
As part of our mission at the Sheboygan Police Department, we strive to work in partnership with the community to fight crime, the fear of crime and disorder. One of the best ways that we can achieve this goal is through education.
“Unfortunately, violent intruder events have become more prevalent in our society”, states Sgt. Kundinger, “and because of this, we have worked closely with the Sheboygan Area School District to develop violent Intruder training for all Sheboygan schools. This training is called ALICE. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Escape).”
The Sheboygan Police Department has also worked with local businesses to help prepare them for such an event by providing ALICE training.
In an effort help educate more community members, the Sheboygan Police Department is offering a free ALICE training program. This training will be conducted bi-annually and is open to the public; however, pre-registration will be required. Class size will be limited to 50 participants.
