SPD Investigates Shooting

On 12/31/17, Sheboygan Police responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Martin Avenue, in Sheboygan, in response to shots fired into a residence.  Sheboygan Police have since identified a suspect in the incident and are currently attempting to locate him.   The suspect is identified as, Deontre Tremaine Smith, age 23.  Deontre is further described as a male black, 5’11 and weighing 160 pounds.  He has short black hair and has a tattoo of a cross between his eyes. Deontre is also known as “Chop”.  Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts is asked to call Sheboygan Police at 920-459-3333.

On 12/31/17, at approximately 3:22 AM, Sheboygan Police responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Martin Avenue in response to a report of shots fired into the residence.  Responding officers arrived and found the residence was empty.  The investigation has since revealed that a resident and several acquaintances were present inside the residence when the shots were fired from a passing vehicle on Martin Avenue.  The occupants then left prior to police arriving on the scene.  Nobody was injured during the incident.  Police are attempting to locate additional witnesses along with a person of interest in connection with the case.  This incident was not a random act, as the people involved are known to each other.  The investigation is ongoing,  anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Sheboygan Police at 920-459-3333.
