School Opens 9/1-Be Cautious!

August 27, 2015 by Mary Danen

The Sheboygan Police Department is asking the public to be cognizant of the upcoming start of the school season which typically begins Tuesday, September 1st, 2015. As families prepare their routines for ensuring their children make it to school safely and on time, please plan accordingly and all motorists must drive cautiously. Police ask the public to consider the following:

-Speak to your children about traffic/school safety and being cautious prior to the start of the school season
-Leave early in order that you have extra time to arrive at your destination
-Obey the speed limits, especially in school zones
-Stop for school buses displaying lights and “Stop Signs”
-Be aware of your surroundings as you travel by vehicle, students are being dropped off or walking to school
-Be aware of school crossing guards and obey their instructions
-Understand your schools vehicle drop off procedures
-Avoid parking in restricted areas surrounding schools

“Everyone being ready, aware and cautious during the start of the school season will avoid unnecessary contact with law enforcement and ensure the safety of our communities students” Capt. James Veeser
