The Sheboygan Police Explorer Post is a group of youth/young adults who have an interest in law enforcement related careers. The Explorers meet for formal meetings twice a month to learn about the role of law enforcement in society, tactics used by police, community policing, and more!
The Explorers are offered opportunities to participate in community events alongside police officers and can even ride in the police squad with assigned officers during a shift. These “ride-alongs” are earned by attending meetings, assisting with public events, and participating in our community policing projects!
Explorers develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills, while also benefiting from opportunities to gain experiences that are unique to law enforcement. Several competitions are held throughout the state where Explorers can compete against other posts in police scenarios.
If you have ever considered a career in law enforcement, be sure to attend this open house to meet with officers, discuss your options, and have a great opportunity to get a head-start on your career! Many of our Explorers have been recently hired by law enforcement agencies throughout the state!
You may join at any point throughout the year, but this is the best time to join. Parents are not required but encouraged to attend as well!
