On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, Sheboygan Police responded to Vollrath Park to investigate a citizen report of suspicious circumstances. When the officers arrived and checked the park they found an unresponsive person in the shelter bathroom. The victim in this case is a 32 year old Sheboygan resident. Based on our investigation and physical evidence at the scene it is believed that the man died of an accidental drug related overdose.
Subsequent investigation that morning led detectives to learn that the person responsible for providing the drugs to the victim was a 38 year old Sheboygan Falls woman. She was arrested with the assistance of the Sheboygan Falls Police. Further investigation revealed that the woman had been provided the drugs by a 28 year old man whom is a resident of Sheboygan County. This suspect was arrested at his home where a search warrant was conducted and the Sheboygan County MEG Unit and Sherriff’s Department assisted in that operation. His arrest provided officers with information about his source of the drugs in Milwaukee.
Officers from the SPD and the Sheboygan County MEG Unit went to Milwaukee to investigate this new lead. With the assistance of the Milwaukee Police Department a 19 year old Milwaukee man was arrested for his role in providing the drugs to the man that had died. MPD also conducted a search warrant at the home of the suspected drug dealer resulting in the seizure of more suspected drugs and firearms. A Milwaukee woman was also arrested and jailed on felony drug charges.
All three of the persons suspected of providing the drugs to the man that died in this incident remain incarcerated in the Sheboygan County Jail and it is expected that they will be formally charged for the man’s death soon. The investigation and official cause of death remain under investigation. An autopsy has already been completed and toxicology results are expected to take a couple of weeks to be available.
The Sheboygan Police Department offers our sincere condolences to the family and friends of deceased.
