Sheboygan Police

Chief of Police

Thank you for visiting our site and for showing support for your police department.  We are deeply grateful for the relationship we have developed with our community, the trust that you place in us to keep it safe, and your interest in being a part of making it the best possible place to live, work and raise families.  Your support is essential for us to continue our success in creating public safety for Sheboygan.

We are proud of the considerable progress in making Sheboygan a safer place from when I started as an officer almost 22 years ago.  This is a direct result of both the strong leadership and hard work from all the talented and dedicated people within the department as well as the willingness of so many in our community to partner with us when we needed your help addressing problems in our neighborhoods.  As a result, the likelihood of anyone becoming a victim in Sheboygan is at historic lows.  We should all be proud of that and appreciate what a great community we’ve built in Sheboygan.

But the work of public safety will never be done.  We cannot ever let up on finding collaborative solutions to the crime and quality of life challenges that Sheboygan will confront in the future.  And while we, as your police department, get to lead the community’s efforts at achieving greater safety, we will never be able to do it alone.  We will continue to need your trust, help and support.  And I encourage you all to consider how each of you can contribute to maintaining and improving the security, vibrancy and openness of our neighborhoods.

As a Sheboygan native, I’m extremely proud of my hometown and of what a great place it is to live and work, and I’m also very proud to serve the community alongside so many great people in our Police Department.  I am especially grateful for this responsibility to lead our work of making Sheboygan safe.  Thank you to everyone who continues to support our vision of making Sheboygan the safest city of its size in the United States.

Sincerely,

Kurt Zempel
Chief of Police
