Neighborhood Beat Officers
The Neighborhood Beat Officer program focuses on neighborhoods with a higher need for police services. Beat Officers work directly with residents to build relationships, identify recurring issues, and develop collaborative, neighborhood-specific solutions that reduce crime and strengthen community trust. Contact information for the Beat Officers can be found here.
Emergency Response Team
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) handles high-risk incidents such as barricaded subjects, hostage situations, and civil disturbances using advanced tactics and specialized equipment. The team is made up of trained officers, sergeants, and crisis negotiators who work to resolve dangerous situations safely and protect the community. For demonstrations or program requests, please contact Lt. Sarah Blodgett at SB1430@sheboyganwi.gov or Sgt. Shannon McKay at SM28840@sheboyganwi.gov, or call (920) 459-3333.
Honor Guard
The Honor Guard is dedicated to honoring fallen law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. The unit also represents the department at funerals, parades, and ceremonies by presenting and posting the nation’s colors. Comprised of officers from various ranks, the Honor Guard upholds tradition and respect while preserving the memory of Sheboygan’s own fallen officers, Officer Theodore Husting and Officer Charles Freiherr. The Commander of the Honor Guard is Sgt. Christopher Stephen. He can be contacted at (920) 459-3333 or by email at CS44458@sheboyganwi.gov.

The K-9 Unit is a proactive team focused on narcotics detection, tracking, article searches, and locating missing persons, while also engaging the community through educational presentations. Led by Captain Joel Kuszynski and currently staffed by Officer Matthew Heimerl and his K-9 partner Grimm, the unit is supported by generous community donations. Contact information for the K-9 unit can be found here.
School Resource Officers
School Resource Officers (SROs) support students and staff by addressing law-related concerns, mentoring youth, and promoting academic and behavioral success. They help maintain school safety through campus patrols, responding to incidents, and deterring criminal activity. SROs also engage in prevention efforts through classroom presentations, youth programs, and community outreach. Contact information for the SROs can be found here.
Street Crimes Unit
The Street Crimes Unit investigates gang activity, property crimes, violent offenses, and narcotics through intelligence gathering, undercover operations, and collaboration with federal agencies like the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force. The unit also engages the community through public education and encourages residents to report suspicious activity to help reduce crime.
