SPD Investigates Shooting

The Sheboygan Police Department has concluded the investigation in connection to the shooting incident that occurred on 04/01/18.  The investigation, including an autopsy, has confirmed that the 47 year old suspect, Mark Williams, died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the upper thigh.  The Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office will formally review the results of this investigation; however, the Sheboygan Police Department will not be referring any criminal charges in connection with this incident.

On 04/01/2018, at approximately 3:25 PM, Sheboygan Police responded to a private residence in the 2300 block of N. 28th for a disturbance involving a gunshot.  Responding Officers located a 47-year-old male Sheboygan resident with a gunshot to the upper thigh being held down by a 46-year-old male family member.   The victim was transported to Saint Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he died as a result of the wound.  The information known at this time is that the 47-year-old male had gone to the residence armed with a handgun where he encountered and threatened a 46-year-old male family member inside the house.  The two struggled over the gun at which time the 47-year-old male sustained a gunshot to the leg.  Other family members present during the disturbance were not injured.  The investigation is continuing and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, April 2nd, 2018.  Once the ongoing investigation is completed it will be forwarded to the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office for review.  No additional information is available at this time.
