On 7/18/24 officers were dispatched to the beach south of South Pier for an unresponsive surfer found in the lake. A passerby had noticed the individual, who was still attached to his surfboard, in the lake and was attempting to pull him from the water while calling 911. The passerby started to perform CPR until officers and fire personnel arrived on scene. Life saving measures were unsuccessful. The surfer has been identified as a 54-year-old man from Wrightstown, WI. The cause of death is unknown but there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
