The Sheboygan Police Department and the Sheboygan Law Enforcement Explorer Post #2881 invites you to attend our Explorer Post Open House on Monday, October 10th, at 6:30pm. This event will be held at the Sheboygan Police Department, 1315 N 23rd St and should last approximately 2 hours.
During this Open House, interested youth and young adults, between the ages of 13 and 21, will have an opportunity to find out what the Explorer Post is and what Explorers gain from membership. This is a great opportunity to:
- Find out if a law enforcement career may be for you
- To build upon your leadership and communication skills
- To work in partnership with the Sheboygan Police Department in preventing crime, fear, and disorder while building stronger neighborhoods
- Learn first-hand the duties and responsibilities of today’s law enforcement
- Experience ride-along opportunities
The Explorer Post has general meetings which are held on the first and third Mondays of each month, throughout the year, with some exceptions. Meetings typically begin at 7pm and last until 9pm. Throughout the year, there are various events which the Explorer Post will be called upon by the police department, such as parade duty, Independence Day, community policing functions, etc. Attendance of these events and general meetings is important, but we ask that you keep your schooling, employment, sports, and family functions as priority.
If you are interested in joining the Explorer Post, there is a $31.00 per year fee, which covers insurance, and a roughly $35 fee for the uniform shirt, badge, and patches. A background check will be conducted, prior to acceptance of your application. If you cannot attend this meeting, but would like to join or be provided more information, please contact me.
Parents are encouraged to attend. For more information about the explorer program, visit http://sheboyganpd.wpengine.com/community/explorers/.
