The Sheboygan Police Department will be hosting its 24th Annual Citizen Academy starting on March 12, 2019 and concluding on May 21, 2019. The Citizens Academy will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and is an 11 week course. The Citizen Academy is designed to be interactive through lectures, demonstrations and practical exercises. The purpose of the academy is to provide stakeholders of the City of Sheboygan an understanding of the police department and its functions and to enhance relationships between the community and police department. Participants will be exposed to many areas of police work ranging from the hiring process, current department initiatives, police investigations, use of force and the legal system.
Applications can be submitted on line at www.sheboyganpolice.com; applications can be downloaded, mailed or dropped off at the Sheboygan Police Department. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have no felony convictions. Background checks will be conducted on all applicants. Application deadline is February 22, 2019.
