The Sheboygan Police Department’s Public Safety Communications Center is the initial point of contact for citizens in need of assistance within the city limits of Sheboygan. The communications center is currently staffed with 14 full-time telecommunicators, (which includes a lead telecommunicator) and 1 part-time telecommunicators.
The communications center provides 24/7 coverage, while maintaining a minimum staffing level of three telecommunicators on first and second shift, and two telecommunicators on third shift. The telecommunicators are responsible for dispatching police, fire and EMS services within the city limits of Sheboygan. The telecommunicators also staff the front desk on first and second shift. The front desk position is dedicated to assisting citizens who visit the police department, and data entry duties.
Each telecommunicator must be certified on the TIME System, and are required to past a recertification test biennially, which is required by the Crime Information Bureau.
Telecommunicators are EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) Certified.
Telecommunicators are CPR and AED certified, and are trained to give CPR Instructions over the telephone if necessary.
