Snow Emergency & Winter Parking Clarification
During the Snow Emergency & Winter Parking public forum that was held on Tuesday, December 6th at Mead Public Library it was brought to the attention of the Department of Public Works that there have been some misunderstandings about the proposed changes to Snow Emergency Ordinance. Many of the citizens that attended the public forum stated that they have read information stating that the Department of Public Works is proposing to ban parking on all streets during the winter months. This information has been posted on social media sites such as Nextdoor and Facebook.
The Department of Public Works is not proposing a parking ban on city streets during the winter months; however, we are presenting three options to be implemented during Snow Emergencies as well as Winter Parking time changes. The department has held two public forums thus far to get input from citizens on their thoughts about the three options that are being proposed. We will be having our final forum on Monday, December 11th at King Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We encourage citizens to attend to give their feedback.
Proposed Changes to the Current Ordinance:
1. Winter Parking – The DPW requests that winter parking begins at 12:00 midnight. This change will allow
an additional two hours for departmental drivers to remove snow from one side of the street.
2. Snow Emergency – Option One
Parking is prohibited on all city streets ONLY during a declared snow emergency
Snow Emergency – Option Two
Establishing a no parking zone located to the North, West, and South of the Central City and prohibit
parking on designated snow emergency routes, boulevards, cul-de-sacs and dead-
end streets
Snow Emergency – Option Three
Eliminate the provision requiring citizens to move their vehicle within an hour of the plow
clearing the opposite of the street from the current ordinance. This provision should be
replaced with the current alternate side winter parking rules and prohibit parking on designated
snow emergency routes, boulevards, cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets

Drug Take Back October 28
Healthy Sheboygan County 2020, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will hold a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 28 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at five locations throughout Sheboygan County.
This effort will continue to bring focus to the issue of prescription painkiller abuse in Wisconsin. The Drug Take Back Day provides a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the community about the potential abuse and consequences of improper storage and disposal of these medications.
“More than two thirds of people who have abused prescription painkillers got them illegally from a friend or family member,” said Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel. “Wisconsinites can help cut down on prescription drug abuse by storing prescription drugs securely and disposing of unused medication through proper methods, like DOJ’s biannual Drug Take Back Day.”
Unused or expired medicine should never be flushed or poured down the drain. Water reclamation facilities are not designed to remove all of them and trace amounts of pharmaceuticals are showing up in rivers and lakes.
The five take-back locations in Sheboygan County will be open to accept unused medications from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM:
- Howards Grove – Village Hall, 913 South Wisconsin Dr., Howards Grove
- Oostburg – Oostburg High School, 410 New York Ave., Oostburg
- Plymouth – Generations, 1500 Douglas Dr., Plymouth, 53073
- Random Lake – Fire Department, 718 Spring St., Random Lake
- Sheboygan – St. Nicholas Hospital, 3100 Superior Ave. Sheboygan, 53081
If Sheboygan County residents are unable to make it to one of the Drug Take Back Day locations, unused medications can also be dropped off any day at one of the permanent medication drop-boxes, located at five police departments throughout Sheboygan County:
- Elkhart Lake Police Department, 40 Pine Street, Elkhart Lake
- Kohler Police Department, 319 Highland Drive, Kohler
- Plymouth Police Department, 128 Smith Street, Plymouth
- Sheboygan Police Department, 1315 N. 23rd Street, Sheboygan
- Sheboygan Falls Police Department, 375 Buffalo Street, Sheboygan Falls
